The 2011 Spring Conference was held at the Whitman Educational Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. The conference was presented by the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and focused on First Responders.
Training included Incident Command Systems, Critical Incident Response, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Dealing with Emotionally Disturbed Persons, School/Workplace Violence, and Responding to an Active Shooter.

FLETC brought in excellent trainers for this conference: Lt. Dan Burkard and John Lewis, Kissimmee Florida Police Department; Sgt. Chris Cicio, St. Lucie County Florida Sheriff's Office, and Michael Overstreet, Department of Homeland Security/FLETC. WCPOA thanks FLETC and the trainers for making the conference a success.

Outgoing President, Brian Dyet, expressed appreciation to Gretchen Olsen (CSP) for her service as Secretary/Treasurer for the past few years. Incoming officers are Rich Ptak (IRS), President; Stan Ancell (GJPD), 1st Vice-President; Ed Clark (CSP), 2nd Vice-President; Tyler Tobias (CSP), Executive Secretary; and Lisa Maestas (GJPD), Secretary-Treasurer.
Chief James Wolfinbarger, Colorado State Patrol was the keynote speaker at the banquet on Wednesday evening.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Glen Sherman Award to Agent Lynn Hood, DOR. Hood is a Life-Time Member of WCPOA, and has held all of the offices as well as holding many of the committee chairs. Hood was President of WCPOA in 2000-2001. Hood was honored for his service to WCPOA as well as his community service. Making the presentation was Chief Glen Sherman (retired-Craig PD). Sherman is also a Life-Time Member of WCPOA, former President of the organization in 1984-1985, and long-time supporter.
